Understanding Your Membership Invoice and Billing Cycle
We know billing isn’t the most exciting part of running your firm—but it’s important. And we want to make it as straightforward as possible. Whether you're reviewing your monthly invoice or wondering why a tech tool isn’t showing up, this guide is here to help clear up some of the most common billing questions we hear from XYPN members.
Let’s break it down together.
When and How You’re Billed
Your membership dues and any add-on services are billed automatically on the 1st of each month. You’ll receive a single invoice through the XYPN Portal that reflects all the services you’re billed for directly by XYPN.
To view or download your invoices:
- Log into your XYPN Portal
- Click on the Billing tab
- Navigate to Transaction History
This section gives you access to current and past invoices in one easy place.
What’s Typically Included on Your Invoice
Every firm is a little different, but here’s what most XYPN members will see on their monthly invoice:
- Standard membership dues
- Additional membership dues for a second advisor (if applicable)
- Add-on services, such as:
- Ongoing Compliance Consulting
- Business Coaching
- Premium ADV Updates
- Monthly Bookkeeping (XYPN Books)
- E&O Insurance
- Any tech tools billed directly by XYPN
If you’ve opted into any of these services, they’ll appear clearly on your invoice each month.
Why Some Tech Benefits Aren’t on Your Invoice
This one trips up a lot of members, so you’re not alone!
Many tech tools at their base tier are included in your XYPN membership at no additional cost, which means they won’t appear on your invoice. Since you’re not being charged for them by XYPN, there’s nothing to itemize.
These included tech benefits currently are:
- Wealthbox (Basic Tier) - *Billing is handled by XYPN*
- AdvicePay
- fpPathfinder (Essentials)
- Capitect (Discover Starter)
- Bob Veres: Inside Information
- Kitces.com Members Section
- NAPFA NRFA & Associate Memberships
- RightCapital (Basic)
- SmartRIA
- XY Archive
If you’ve upgraded to a higher-tier license or added users beyond what’s covered, those charges will typically come directly from the tech partner—not through XYPN.
What If I’m Missing a Charge or Tool?
Here’s what we recommend:
- Double-check whether the service is billed through XYPN or directly by the partner
- Confirm that your tech tools are set up under your XYPN benefit (especially for discounts)
- Use the Billing tab in the portal to verify recent invoices
