Getting the Most from the Forums

The XYPN Member Forums are one of the most valuable parts of your membership—your 24/7 space to ask questions, crowdsource ideas, and connect with fellow firm owners across the country. Whether you’re troubleshooting tech, exploring pricing, or just looking for peer insight, the forums are where real conversations happen.

Here’s how to make sure you’re seeing the right content, staying in the loop, and making the most of your time in the forums.


Follow the Categories That Matter to You

Want to stay updated on specific topics without feeling overwhelmed? You can follow (or mute) categories based on what’s most relevant to your firm.

To follow a category and get notifications:

  • Visit a category page (e.g., Compliance, Tech Stack, Business Growth)
  • Click the bell icon at the top of the topic list
  • Choose Watch (to get alerts for every new post) or Track (to be notified of replies to existing topics)

To make sure alerts hit your inbox:

  • Click your profile icon → Preferences → Emails
  • Make sure “Send me an email when I get a notification” is turned on

You can adjust or mute notification preferences anytime under:

Preferences → Notifications → Categories


Search First to Save Time

Before posting a question, try a quick search—chances are someone else has asked it before.

To search effectively:

  • Click the magnifying glass icon in the upper-right corner
  • Type keywords, phrases, or tool names (e.g., “Capitect billing,” “ADV update,” “compliance manual”)
  • Browse the results to see if your question has already been answered

This is a great way to save time and keep the forums clean for everyone.


Post in the Best-Fit Category

If you do need to post a new question or discussion, try to place it in the category that best matches your topic.

Not sure where it fits?

  • Use General Discussion as your fallback
  • Our Community Team will move your thread to the right place so it’s easy for others to find later

Clear subject lines and specific questions also help other members engage faster.


Tips for Using the Forums Effectively

  • Be Specific: Clear questions = better answers. Include context or tools involved.
  • Share Back: If you solve a problem, share the outcome. It helps the next person!
  • Use Tags Wisely: Tags help organize content by topic—don’t skip them.
  • Stay Respectful: Everyone’s at a different point in their journey. Be kind and constructive.
